Hi everyone! A lot has happened here in the past few months. Some good, some bad.
The bad first: I placed Key in a pet home. I gave her a lot of time to hopefully grow out of some things but unfortunately, she just didn't meet my "waterline" of quality in my program. She's still local and doing wonderfully, and getting much more attention and activity than I could ever give her! Draco is likely going to be neutered- he's 7 months old, and has a form of cryptorchidism- it's likely not genetic, a fluke. He had 2 testes present all the way to about 5 months and the short cord of one testicle didn't keep up with his growth and retreated into the inguinal cavity. Ugh. Sad. He's still my mum's dog and I gave her the option of rehoming him, and she declined- he's done her emotional state wonders and I don't blame her for refusing to let him go. I would never take him from her. Good news: Meev's litter is due any day now. She's due Friday, actually. I'm hoping for something to keep. Fingers crossed. Updating my website to view my current program's roster was.. depressing. But onwards and upwards. Bon Clay (Draco's brother) is doing very well, and we will be showing him in specialties and more as he matures. Key leaving means I have space to keep that hopeful pup from my litter. I'm just hoping everything goes well.

Well... Meevs first litter came and went. It just flew by.
Voted pick of the litter was fluffy boy Bon Clay (FKA Asriel), Kahukura Subtle Knife. He goes off to do performance and maybe if he matures well enough, we'll chance conformation despite his hairyness. Next up, my keeper- equally nice as Bon, without the hair- Draco, (FKA Iorek), Kahukura Wdrs His Dark Materials. He's flashy and has excellent structure. Louie (FKA Roger), Kahukura Golden Compass, left to be a beloved companion and performance dog. Sassy (FKA Serafina), Kahukura I Don't Come Cheap, will work on a 400 acre farm in Virginia with two cardigans from my mentor. Bentley (FKA Baruch), Kahukura Amber Spyglass, was an awesome surprise for an anniversary gift and joins two well bred pembrokes in a beloved home. Now, we relax and take a deep breath between litters. Meev will be bred next season. Lucas is out in pursuit of his bronze level Grand Championship before he retires from the show ring. Key is taking time go grow up and pursue sports. Oops. I fell a bit behind on keeping this up to date. As always, Facebook has the most up to date information.
We had a grand time at the Kennewick show in October; Meev took several class wins and major reserves. She completed her DCAT title. Lucas showed once and didn't pull off any placements but his main thing was to have fun at FASTCAT. Key showed her first time and took one BOB Beginner Puppy. November has since rolled around, and Meev is confirmed pregnant by Lucas, so we're officially expecting our first litter. We will soon know her exact count. She's due December 20th. Exciting!!! Happy holidays everyone, keep posted! My, oh my, what a month. Ironically, I post this on my birthday. Neat.
We attended our first IABCA show. I was told the quality of these shows would be lower and that definitely wasn't true. There were many specialty winning, championed or higher AKC dogs.. wow. I was shocked. Meev finished her IntCH and is one point away from her NatCH. Most importantly, she was cut to the top 10 of a HUGE herding group of 25+ dogs and we were told if there was a Group 4th award, she would have gotten it. Her critiques were lovely and she showed very well. Meev got her final images for OFA certification done. I'm happy to say everything looks great and I'll update when I receive the official results. Onward to July. Two shows then we're done until the regional specialty in October. Meev had a successful weekend at Lynden, getting somewhere around 120 points towards her DCAT. She went RWB on Sunday and was WB and BOS Monday under Breeder Judge Dayl Phillip for a point.
I am SO PROUD of this girl. Finally have the COVID puppy funks off. She was an amazing ambassador for the breed and laid nicely on the floor while 4 young kids in 4-H surrounded her and gave her pats and belly rubs. She started pulling to greet almost everyone. Hats are kinda suspicious still, I guess I need to start wearing my safari hat around more often. LOL. Here's our win photo and a gorgeous FCAT photo from Randy Roberts and Jumoke Photography, respectively. Hi all! Since Maiev's breeding for this spring unfortunately didn't take, I'm dialing back the plans to attend more shows in the meantime. Lucas will be shown very sparingly this year- I'm pushing for Maiev to be finished, and Lucas is 5 years old and has his Grand Championship. He will definitely be out and about.. just not as much, as my focus is on Maiev and perhaps another breed? We shall see. Her final OFA's will be completed in between the mayhem of shows and work.
