"I want a cardigan puppy that's __ color, or fluffy!"
Color preferences are okay to have. But remember, color when breeding to ethical breeders is very low on the priority list beyond checking to ensure the code of ethics is followed. We do not aim to produce "fad" colors- all dogs are tested for disqualifying colors and every effort is made to avoid them, however in the case of an exceptional breeding these are possible. These will be strictly pets. This is the same for any fluffies that may occur (they will). All puppies are the same price regardless of color, sex, or coat length.
Simply put, you can ask for what you want, but you might be waiting a long, LONG time. Please view the chart below to view the standard colors of Cardigan Welsh Corgis.

Currently, my program can produce all colors, but it really depends on who and what is bred to who.
Disqualifying colors: Liver (and all variations), Clear red (AKA pink- like red, but no black pigment on the nose or anything), Merle other than blue merle. I am a breeder that abides by CWCCA Code Of Ethics, and will never intentionally breed for disqualifying colors. All Disqualifying colors will be placed on spay/neuter contracts. Colors are only skin deep, and these don't affect the health of your pet. |
"I want a cardigan puppy that's my desired sex!"
This is much more manageable to fulfill your request, but I'm at the mercy of nature. There's a 50% chance of each puppy being a boy or girl, and sometimes nature decides to give an all girl or all boy or 5 girls 1 boy and, and, and... I'll try.
Dew the dews? No.
After heavily considering scholarly articles, experience of other breeders, friends, and myself a dog groomer, I decided dewclaws will NOT be removed on my puppies. This is a working breed and after seeing dogs at work, I observed they use the dew claws to grab, help stop and turn on a dime. The only exception is rear dew claws and dews that are not fully attached/floppy. Read more here.
